“I have all of the true USGS topographic map apps (to my knowledge) and this is the ONLY one that will make a true, accurate track! Indispensable for making and verifying topographic maps of unmapped hiking trails! The other apps make trackpoints about every 1 minute which is just totally unacceptable. iHikeGPS produces trackpoints about every 2-4 seconds… this is the only USGS topographic-map displaying app so far that does the very basics of GPS very well. I love the ability to easily view the elevation changes of a track with a decent y-axis that doesn't obscure the data.” - azurerain

“Wow, iHikeGPS is really well done. You can download maps for free directly to the app using WiFi or 3G and you can just tell it to get the map for your current location and uses the GPS fix to get the highest resolution USGS topo map instantly. Or you can choose any location and it will choose the map for you. He has the entire USGS 24K and all the USFS topo maps in his database and they are all free with purchase of the app. Also it saves .gpx files of your tracks and you can send them by email.
